Poverty & Hunger

When asked what type of community project was preferred by our members, the majority wanted to assist with Poverty & Hunger. As part of this, we will partner with Festival Foods, WFRV and Y100 to expand the “Food for Neighbors Project.” This project is designed to help supply our local food pantry’s with basic food supplies which are distributed to children and families in the community. Our Club will help expand and grow this program by developing strategies to enhance contributions to this effort, along with involving Rotary members in activities to increase community awareness of the poverty issues in our community.

Successful and future projects include:

  • Received $2,000 donation from Local Foundation of Green Bay, Inc.
  • Collected nearly 2,000 pounds of food at 2 Green Bay Gamblers hockey games.
  • February: Collected approximately 1,000 pounds of food at 2 Club meetings.
  • March: Served food at NEW Community Shelter.
  • April: Raised nearly $1,000 in 6 hours at 2 Festival Foods stores via “food circles” in $5 and $10 increments.
  • June: Partnered with United Way of Brown County on hygiene drive.
  • June – August: Promoting sales of Festival Foods’ “food circles” in $5 and $10 increments at 6 Green Bay Bullfrogs baseball games.
