Making a Difference with Poverty

As many are unhappy with the shrinking values of their stock portfolios, what about those who cannot even consider investing? According to the World Bank, 20+% of the world’s population lives in poverty.

Research suggests one of the top two factors that bring people out of poverty is education. Rotarians around the world provide scholarships, build/refurbish classrooms, set up computers, etc. so kids can attend school with confidence.

When people serve others, they connect, give of their talents and experience fulfillment. So, for those who are worried about the economy, Rotary provides a way to serve. Service to others is a powerful way to combat depression.

What can be done to make it easy for people to contribute their time and talent; as well as helping others understand and feel the impact of Rotary — whether they are donating time, money or energy –knowing their contributions are worth more than ever?
